| note: this is part 2/2 of our article series on Common Yeast Infection Symptoms, part one can be found here: Common Yeast Infection Symptoms – Part One |
Skin yeast infection symptoms:
Skin yeast infections generally occur in areas that are moist and wet. These include the groin, underarms, under the breast, under the lower abdomen and in toenails and finger nails. Any kind of a skin yeast infection can easily be diagnosed after scraping some tissue from the skin and checking what it really contains under a microscope.
The skin yeast condition is caused mainly due to long periods of moisture and heat. Obese people who have higher skin contact, those who suffer from diabetes mellitus and those who take cancer medication or steroids are at a higher risk of getting a skin yeast infection.
The symptoms of a skin infection caused by yeast are an unbearable sight to look at. Red scabs appear on the skin and the rash can sometimes break into pustules. The skin becomes completely covered with a red rash that fills the area completely over time. While the yeast is unlikely to enter the body through the skin, this can happen if there is a cut or a lesion leading to further complications.
Vaginal yeast infection symptoms:
A certain amount of yeast is common in the vagina and it is only when the balance is changed that it starts to cause issues. The microbial balance can be broken by contraceptive pills, pregnancy, diabetes, menstruation, hormonal changes, and excessive use of antiseptic douches and ingestion of antibiotics.
The common symptoms of vaginal yeast infection include vaginal itching, redness and soreness. A burning sensation can make urination difficult and to add to that the itching can create extremely embarrassing moments. Pain during sexual intercourse is common, disrupting normal marital relationships at times.
Vaginitis during pregnancy should be treated immediately. This is because the infection can pass on to the baby during delivery and later erupt as thrush in the mouth or diaper rash, something that can make the baby extremely irritable and uncomfortable. Vaginal yeast infections can be prevented by wearing cotton clothing that is not tight, ensuring that you wipe from front to back, consuming large amounts of yogurt that contains the good bacteria lactobacilli, limiting the amount of sugar intake and maintaining a healthy and clean lifestyle.
The symptoms of the specific type of yeast conditions have been mentioned above. However, it remains to be explained that if the yeast infection is not addressed and treated, the yeast infection can enter the system and cause various other issues that are more complicated. These include:
- Headaches, joint pains, knee pains and swelling in joints
- Chronic fatigue, blurry vision and listlessness
- Constipation, diarrhea, bloating and flatulence
- Urinary tract infections
- Frequent mood changes and irritability
- Short attention span
- Depression and frustration
- Memory issues
The main thing to note here is that initial symptoms of yeast infections should not be ignored by males or females. Action should be taken to ensure that the yeast infection is cured in such a manner that it does not come back again. Using a holistic approach to the problem is what can ensure that the yeast infection (which is otherwise very resilient) does not come back.
